Lyubimov and  the Taganka theatre: Together and apart

On April 23 Moscow celebrated two theatre anniversaries at once – the 50th anniversary of Lyubimov's Taganka Theatre and the 80th anniversary of Yuri Lyubimov's creative work: he went on stage for the first time at the age of 16 in a production of "Prayer for the Living", when he was a student at the MAT 2nd studio. The Maestro's anniversary was celebrated at the Vakhtangov Theatre, where he worked for many years as an artist and where he returned after his falling out with the Taganka Theatre company, in order to stage a production of "Demons".
