In Maly Theatre World Theatre Day will be celebrated with the unique exhibition of theatre costumes. The time is not out of joint here - Maly Theatre is rightly proud of it and proves it again: these costumes were seen from the stage by the audience in XIX, XX and even XXI centuries. For the first time in Schepkin foyer about twenty female and male costumes will be displayed, in which Mariya Ermolova, Glikeria Fedotova, Alexander Sumbatov-Yujin, Alexander Ostujev, Alexandra Yablochkova, Mikhail Tsarev and Yuriy Solomin appeared on the stage. The costumes look royal indeed – not only due to their rich hand finish but according to the main theme as well. For example, there is Ermolov’s dress for the part of Tsarina Anastasia from Tsar Ivan the Fourth by Alexander Sumbatov’s play who himself played various Shakespearian parts under the pseudonym of Yujin, Richard the Third was among them and this costume is also displayed.

Gogol Centre: Start from Zero

The Gogol Centre under the direction of Kirill Serebrennikov opened in place of the Gogol Theatre with the production of "00:00". The symbolic title can be explained as an attempt to start everything from the beginning, to reset the hurts and misunderstandings that have accumulated since that theatre's reconstruction. Gogol Theatre company actors as well as new participants and residents – such as the Kostroma dance company Dialogue Dance, the Seventh Studio that is made up of Kirill Serebrennikov's graduates, and SounDrama under the direction of Vladimir Pankov – took part in the opening ceremony.
