Everything starts with movement – an instinct we all have – and dance is movement refined to communicate. Much as flawless technique is important and impressive, it is ultimately what the dancer expresses inside the movement that is the essence.
However, whether we like it or not, whether we recognize it or not, we all share, whatever the colour of our skin, whatever our origins, wherever we live, a common base: humanity. It is this paradigm that guides and nourishes my creative process.
Come, turn off your television, switch off your computer, and come to dance. Express yourself through that divine and dignified instrument, which is our body. Come to dance and join people in the waves of pulses.
I believe that dance may be one of the most honest forms of expression for us to cherish: because when people dance, whether in a ballet performance, a hip-hop battle, an underground contemporary show or just in a discotheque, cutting loose, there are seldom any lies deployed, any masks worn.
