“Pieretta’s Wedding Veil” at the Free Theatre
In 1913, Alice Koonen left the Art Theatre for the Free Theatre, founded by Konstantin Mardzhanov. Her debut in the Free Theatre was the pantomime “Pieretta’s Wedding Veil”. The production of the young director Alexander Tairov who was unknown to the actress was a success. It was “Pieretta’s Wedding Veil” that marked the beginning of the creative union of Tairov and Koonen, which laid foundations for the legendary Chamber Theatre’s birth.
