Boris Pokrovsky was born
He was born in Moscow on Malaya Molchanovka street. Pokrovsky’s father taught Russian, his mother was a housewife, and the grandfather-priest had his parish at Varvarka. Boris's parents bought a subscription to the Bolshoi Theatre and often gave their places to the children. After that, their son “played the theatre” in his imagination. He also attended music lessons with Elena Gnesina, however, by his own admission, he did not do this very willingly. After school, Pokrovsky graduated from the Theatre and Music College. A.K. Glazunov in piano, and then — the directing department of GITIS, where he studied on the course of Yuri Zavadsky with George Tovstonogov. After working for six years at the Gorky Opera and Ballet Theatre. A.S. Pushkin, the director at the age of 31, moved to the Bolshoi Theatre, where he staged more than forty performances.
