Nikolai Khmelyov died
Khmelyov suffered paralysis, and then cardiac arrest in Moscow Art Theatre, during the dress rehearsal of the play “Hard Days” where he played Ivan the Terrible. In the makeup and costume of the sinister Tsar, Khmelyov left this world. He was called one of the most impressive representatives of the second generation of the MAT actors. Nikolai Khmelyov, the actor, director and teacher, was the artistic director of the Moscow Art Theatre from 1943 until his death.
