From July 20 to August 5, 2018 VDNH will host the 4th Annual Inspiration Art Festival. Every year its program is dedicated to a genre or a theme in arts. This year Inspiration has chosen theatre. The festival art director is Roman Dolzhansky, and artistic director is Ingeborga Dapkunaite. Thanks to them, the whole territory of the country main exhibition will be occupied by theatre.
On August 1, the French theatre Les Plasticiens Volants will present “A Space Odyssey” which is a parade of fantastic figures of incredible shapes, colours and sizes that move on the ground between people and float in the air. A rock singer Kati Avram, along with the artist and director Pierre Berthelot (Générik Vapeur Theatre) will “revive” a gigantic 19-metre high construction of 8 sea containers in “Waterlitz” play.
The festival will open on July 20 by the world-famous German-Swiss group Rimini Protokoll. It will present a kind of sociological study, Situation Rooms project. Its characters are 20 people from all over the world who know firsthand about war. The audience will go with them on a journey through labyrinths of rooms and countries. A well-known modern artist, an owner of two Golden Mask Awards Ksenia Peretrukhina will place surprise installations on the Central Avenue of VDNH. Italian theatre NoGravity will present “Aria” show on the Garden pond in Ostankino Park, based on a bizarre plastique acting and work with unique stage machinery. Actors’ bodies join together in unusual figures, soar over the stage to the accompaniment of Roma Barocca Essemble and ancient instruments made by masters of Baroque era.
At VDNH House of Culture, Gleb Cherepanov stages “All shades of Black” about the poet Sasha Chorny. Theatre of Nations will show two monodramas from the series “Our Everything ...” based on the works of Joseph Brodsky and Nodar Dumbadze, and Alexander Filippenko prepared for the festival a new program “Hello, Mikhail Mikhailovich!” dedicated to Zoshchenko and Zhvanetsky.
Another special program is for cinema, where theatricality is important. Also within the framework of the festival, there will be a youth student program of performances.
