September 30, 2017 is the 100th anniversary of Yuri Lyubimov, who has not only created one of the most brilliant Russian theatres of the twentieth century, but also had a great impact on young directors of today. During the year, the program “Yuri Lyubimov’s Century” will be held, the program dedicated to this outstanding theatre figure. An active role in establishing this program played Katalin Lyubimova, the director’s widow. The program was launched at Moscow Illusion cinema by the retrospective “Yuri Lyubimov. Film Show with the Master”, featuring rare films with his participation (he has played in almost thirty films). For the first time in 60 years, a black-and-white film-production “Much Ado about Nothing” was released. It was staged at Vakhtangov Theatre. Among other projects of the jubilee year is the exhibition “Lyubimov and the Time” at Museum of Moscow, International Scientific Conference at Russian State Library of Arts, Sir András Schiff’s solo piano concert “In Memoriam of Yuri Lyubimov” at the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory, Mussorgsky's opera “Prince Igor” staged by Yuri Lyubimov and more than fifty other cultural events.
