The Bolshoi’s Big Contest
The Bolshoi Theatre hosted XIII International Ballet Competition and Contest of Choreographers, which was founded in 1969 and held in Moscow every four years. This time the Ministry of Culture established an incredible prize fund (two grand prix with amount of $ 100,000 each, though nobody received them, and $ 30,000 to the best choreographer - this prize was shared by Zuniga Jimenez Eduardo Andres (Chili) and Wen Xiaochao (China). Among dancers, the main junior winners became Elizaveta Kokoreva (Russia, prize 1, duet), Park Seonmee (South Korea, prize 1, duet), Denis Zakharov (Russia, prize 1, duet), Mark Chino (Russia, prize 1, solo), Elizabeth Beyer (USA, prize 1, solo), and among seniors - Moraes Gomes Amanda (Brazil, prize 2, duet), Okawa Koya (Japan, prize 1, duet), Evelina Godunova (Latvia, prize 1, solo), Adamzhan Bakhtiyar (Kazakhstan, prize 1, solo).
