Dr Ajay Joshi is a practicing Dentist, with a PhD on theatre Criticism and Masters in Journalism and Mass Communication. He has been writing on theatre and culture, freelancing in major Indian and International newspapers, magazines and journals for past 22 yrs, while travelling extensively as media person, theatre curator, festival organizer, jury, workshop facilitator, research scholar, performer, compeer, professor and resource person. He is involved in community work and grass-root theatre activities, has volunteered for Rotary International service projects and awarded the Rotary International cultural exchange scholarship. He has designed and taught more than seven courses on theatre, culture, journalism and gender studies, in various institutes in Pune, initiated theatre projects in India and abroad, while having numerous published research papers to his credit. A published author of two books, he has also translated 13 plays from Marathi to English. He is the core member of the International Association of Performing Arts and Research, Indian Society for Theatre Research, Indian Association of Theatre Critics and the Vice-President of the Indian Chapter of International Theatre Institutes.
He has been conferred with the Fulbright- Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellowship 2018-2019.
His hobbies include travelling, photography, yoga, tennis and playing sitar.
